PIXMA is a family, not a package identifier
Canon uses PIXMA across many consumer printer models. A search for only PIXMA can show several generations and regional products with different controls. Read the complete model label on the actual unit, then find that model in Canon's official printer support pages before evaluating any software or manual.
Do not select a package because another PIXMA shares ink supplies or a similar case. Compare the precise suffix and product type. Canon's product page is the best starting point for platform-specific software and instructions, while a broad family index is useful only for finding the model entry.
Verify print and scan roles separately
Some PIXMA products are multifunction units and others are not; the family label alone proves neither. Where scanning is documented, a scan acquisition component or application can coexist with a Windows print queue. A printed test page shows that the output route works, not that image capture can locate the device.
Likewise, an application finding a scanner does not establish the queue's print renderer or paper settings. If only capture fails, consult the Canon scanner guide. If output is malformed, use rendering tests. Avoid replacing one working function to troubleshoot an unrelated function.
Use model documentation for media options
Inkjet print controls may include media type, quality, or borderless choices, but the exact supported settings vary by product and the print interface selected in Windows. A class-based print route might expose different settings from a model-specific route. Neither software route can add a physical capability absent from the device.
For example, if a borderless option is missing, verify whether the actual model and paper size support it before searching for another driver. Compare the Canon manual with the queue's print preferences and test a small document. A paper-handling mismatch is more specific than a general claim that the driver is broken.
Keep discovery separate from output
USB and network connections carry print data; they do not by themselves select the proper media representation. A discovered network PIXMA can have a queue that points to an old address or a different instance of the same device. Inspect the destination if print jobs remain pending.
When a router changes, follow the model's Canon network instructions first and then verify Windows' selected queue.
